Of course you need to have your PC switched on to use the Xbox, yes?

look at this for a cheap router:

RE: XBOX Live - Whats the COST?

Don`t worry m8, you don`t have to get that particular router.
The trouble is that there`s lots of different flavour of broadband, you may have the crappy one, which is a USB modem. BT`s favourite....

What hardware do you have now?

You need an ethernet connection from the xbox to the internet, so if you have an ADSL router with a spare port just stuff the x-box into it as well.

If you`ve got a USB modem then you may have a problem, but they are generally crap anyway, maybe worth upgrading. Look at the Vigor2200 USB, which would use you existing USB modem, but route it out to your PCs and Xbox, and BT can`t complain because you are still using their original equipment to connect to the net.

I have a Vigor2600 and it just worked, without any fiddling :-)

Otherwise, someone here may know if Internet Sharing work with Xbox, and windoze, ISC I think it`s called.

RE: Anyone got XBOX Live & does it ROCK?

It`s very very good.

We`ve been playing (and talking about) it for months on this forum where have you been?

It has some great games, lots of people to play with, and great hardware.
The only online console with voice support, and... oh yes IT ROCKS!

Waiting for Mario Kart online now ?! :-)

RE: Is the Gamecube folowing the N64.......down the plughole?

Q: I just want someone to persuade me to buy an Xbox now!
A:Try Xbox Live, it`s the dogs. :-)

Even contemplating that Nintendo will go the way of Sega is a joke.
Um sorry this is Nintendo we are talking about, Nintendo.
They have the Gameboy, Mario, Pokemon, hundreds of franchises that people have grown up with. As well as masses of respect from the gaming community and millions of people buying their stuff.

There will always be a Sony system and a Nintendo sytem, Microsoft have the power to keep trying, I like my X-box a lot.
I play on a PS2 quite a bit, but nothing takes my fancy that I can`t live without, so I make my choices, I won`t get bitter, or act like IronDuke slagging off peoples opinions with nasty banter.

If you don`t like something don`t buy it, but remember competion always helps to keep a market evolving and changing.

Cheers.

RE: Zelds bonus disk - whats everyone doing?

I`ve got mine ordered at Play.

I can`t wait for the this to arrive, but I`m going to anyway.
Try and support PAL games by buying the U.K. version, it`s all very well get U.S. machines and games, but it doesn`t help PAL sales.

RE: How often do you finish games ?

I`ve always found Rare games an arse to finish, I think I`ve only done Goldeneye and Starfox. I always get near to the end but can`t finish them.

I finished Sunshine, but don`t need to go back and get every item, I don`t think it`s what gaming is about.

Don`t get me started on Halo, I`ve done the last run 40 or so times, getting to within a couple of second on the hardest setting, but I`ve got that far, so it`s sort of finished, keep telling myself that anyway.

By the way in Starfox, I shot most of the towers down on the first run round on the Bird, use your index finger to tap bloody fast on the fire button, shoot all the little wotnots, and aim for the towers between shots. I was using a Wavebird as well!

RE: Is the TV licence fee value for money?

Andy, can you not get freeview reception yet? You really are very negative toward a service which I presume you don`t have.
You will get freeview eventually as DTTV is here to stay, and the goverment should enforce a ban on sales of new analogue kit, as they are responsible for the push to Freeview.

Personally I think freeview is a great service, almost 30 T.V. channels down your aerial and no contract. It will improve when people stop slagging it off and encourage others to buy digiboxes. My signal through a knackered old aerial is superb, although the compression is evident it`s no worse than Sky or Cable, but of course mostly in widescreen.

I totally agree with you that people without digiboxes should get a reduction, but I`m sure this could be difficult to enforce. Perhaps digiboxes should be subsidised by the goverment and the license fee so everyone can afford them, and of course people unable to receive the signal should get a reduce license fee. My parents can`t receive it and it`s a shame.

The licence fee is going up again, so is the cost of Sky I`ve heard.

The BBC is part of British culture and exists to provide `Broadcasting`, a broad range of output. If it existed in a commercial environment it would need to chase ratings, and as a result, would stifle unusual, creative or minority programming.

The BBC sets the standard which luckily most other broadcasters follow, without it every channel would be like channel 5 (five) yikes.

RE: Is the TV licence fee value for money?

Oh before i forget if you are employed by the b.b.c. you do not need a t.v. license .This one proves beyond all reasonible doubt that it is a rip off wake up license payers your being taken for a ride

That`s wrong as far as I`m aware, my partner works for the BBC, and we have always paid our licence fee.

The BBC has been dumbing down in the last few years, mostly the fault of the John Birt era trying to get ratings and making television by commitee, not innovation. I work in T.V. and have made programmes for all the major broadcasters, I don`t have a bias, but a lot of Sky stuff I make is total cak, aiming for Sun readers or niche markets. The BBC will hopefully improve again, or it will be in trouble.

RE: New Lynx Advert *Man Dancing - Whats the song used in it?*
