RE: Cyberhome CH DVD 505 - Beginner needs help!
....and I just noticed I have a different Chipset / Firmware to the ones on the link you gave me. My details are as follows:
________________________________________
Player: ST Cinemaster - Build 2.10218
Driver Version: 4.1, Build 10666 - Configurable 1
Region Code 2
Drive Type: ATAPI - Type 0
Memory Config 8192KB SMI, 0KB EMI, 0
Audio DAC CS4362-3
________________________________________
Additionally, I just noticed Config 6 from the secret menu says USA and Region 1, but it still plays my UK disc, just a bit less smooth. Is this correct?
I hope someone can pick all this up and put my mind at rest.
Thanks
RE: Cyberhome CH DVD 505 - Beginner needs help!
OK, thanks for your help there, it`s much appreciated. However, as I am a beginner with DVD`s I would quite like to know if I can change it without installing amended firmware (which I am not confident in doing), so if anyone could tell me how to amend it through the remote control hack it would be much appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation....
John
Please help with my Cyberhome 505 Hack problem.....
I have just bought my first DVD player (the above model). The bloke in the shop (Richer Sounds - a knowledgable chain I believe) said I could put in a multi region hack by pressing "MENU, 1, 1, 1, 1 and changing CONFIG to 9". However the config field won`t let me change it to 9. I can change it to 1, 2, 3, 4 (and onwards, but the screen starts jumping about when I get to 5, 6 and 7 as if I`m changing the viewing settings) and in turn it changes the "Region" field to 1 number higher than what I enter in the config field (ie, if I input 1 in config, region changes to 2).
When it is set on config 1 (therefore region 2) is displays "Germany" next to the country field. When I change it to anything else it displays "UNKNOWN" next to the country field. I have tried to set it to config 1, 2 or 3 and it seems to play the only DVD I have (which is a for the region local to England, whatever one that is) on all of the config`s fine. This makes me believe it may not have any difference between the config settings and therefore cannot be set to read USA discs. I cannot change the config to "0" either.
As I say, I am a total beginner and I have spent ages looking into DVD players before settling on this one, if anybody can help I`d be most grateful.
If you can`t understand what I`m waffling about, please mail me and I`ll try and tell you what you need to know.
Thanks,
John
