About this user: I like to make use of new technology but am not very good with the jargon or technical details side of things. I have a PC, Digital TV, VCR and Philips DVDR880. Movies I like best are sci-fi and horror, also music from the likes of Bowie and Rolling Stones etc. My main hobby outside of these is pond fishkeeping and breeding.

RE: Any dvd/vhs combi`s play dvd+rw discs?
Thanks for the advice, Metaphysical, I will look at the Sharp combis in a new light now. I think you`re right about more makes being compatible, perhaps they just don`t want to make claims that could land them in trouble if anyone has problems getting DVD+RW discs to play on them.
Any dvd/vhs combi`s play dvd+rw discs?
I`ve got a Philips DVDR880 and am thinking of getting a dvd/vhs combi player for the bedroom. I would prefer one that can play the DVD+RW discs I have recorded on the Philips. Does anyone know if such a machine exists, and if so where I can get one?
Any hacks for Orion DVC 5000 DVD/VHS combinaton player?
I am thinking of buying one of these combi players and would like to know if it can be made multi-region. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.
RE: Philips dvd750 hack, one time hack?
I have the one4all 6 (URC7562) and as I had already set it up to control my DVD using the 0539 code I started with the tray empty and closed, pressed "magic" then entered "085". The dashes appeared on the front panel, so I entered "121 212 005 255", pressed "play", then turned the DVD off at the mains, waited about 15 seconds then turned it back on.
Hope you can get yours to work this way!
RE: Philips dvd750 hack, one time hack?
Thanks DLT for your advice. The 121 212 005 255 code seems to have been accepted O.K.on my m/c. I seem to remember seeing somewhere about doing this with the drawer open, then gently pushing it closed (instead of pushing open/close button on the front panel) when the code has been entered, but I am not absolutely certain about that.
It would be nice if all the tips were in one place wouldn`t it?
Philips dvd750 hack, one time hack?
If I use this hack for a dvdr880 using a one4all remote and the code 121 212 005 001 will this make my player multi-region permanently, or do I still have to change backwards and forwards for different region discs.

RE: What firmware version am I using?
Thanks Gurjinder, it reads exactly as you said! Am I right in assuming that this is the lastest version for this machine? If not, where can I get an update please?
thanks
What firmware version am I using?
Can anyone tell me how to find out what firmware version my Philips DVDR880 is using please?
hack for Philips DVDR880 with one for all 6 please?
I am a total newcomer to this area and would like to make my 880 multi-region using a One for All 7562 remote. It seems to me that everywhere I look there are little extra bits of information that have to be put in order before the hack will work (like setting the system ,whatever that means, before continuing) Is there anywhere I can find the whole process set out step by step? Also, is this a once only hack or do I have to re-program the dvd player each time I want to play a DVD from another region?
