RE: Need a remote for scan/daewoo dvd player

Try SEME, mail order spares - 01664 484000.

Question for Daz.

Did you get the Daewoo exchanged?

Did it have the same picture problem?

Adam

ATTN, Gary Thomas.

A few points.....

1. Daewoo players are not `crap`, if you look at any of the reviews it gets you will see a glowing report (perhaps just look at the review on this site).

2. Daewoo cars, Worthing, is the CAR R & D plant and has no association with Daewoo electronics apart from a few financial companies owning both shares. Daewoo cars are making a loss in some countries - Daewoo electronics are making huge profits, not only under the Daewoo brand but also under names such as Hitachi, Panasonic, Goodmans and Hinari to name a few.

3. Perhaps you should do a bit of research before you start shooting your mouth off because you will inevitably end up looking stupid.

RE: Daewoo DVD from Argos

keep scrolling down and you will find it hidden at the bottom.

RE: my dawoo dvd

Good call Nelly,

RGB and composite show no difference at all from more than 2` from the set. With an under £200 player the best I hope for is to give a good picture and good sound, any more is a bonus. If people want their DVD to make the tea and proform a striptease they should be paying the price and not complaining about (what really seem to me to be) trivial problems.

RE: ATTN ADAM4

Poncho,
I have a B&O TV and am able to access a setup menu and tell the TV to get an RGB input through AV2.
RGB will give a slightly better picture than composite, because with composite the signal can get problems when encoding the picture to be sent down a single pin; RGB does not mix up the colours because each primary colour is being sent down three different pins. There is also another pin (P16 known as fast blanking) which is supposed to send a 12v signal to tell the TV that the DVD is now sending a RGB picture to it. This is where the problem with the Daewoo occurres, it doesn`t send that signal, so the TV will not automatically know when it is getting a RGB input. This is why you will have to look in your TV instructions to find out if there is a way of telling it manually to look for RGB.

Hope that helps.

Adam

PS. Westy, what films do you have problems with?

RE: ATTN ADAM4

My DHC 2200K does have a low voltage on pin 16, but i have manual switching on my TV so this doesn`t bother me. Even when i watch it on composite the picture is near perfect, so i can`t understand what people are whinging about. It does not have the poor pictures that have been reported by scan customers, yet the scan bad press is still affecting the Daewoo machine.

RE: SC2000 FIRMWARE FOR SUBTITLE/SCART PROBLEM NOW AVIALABLE

Will replacing these chips not invalidate the warranty? And isn`t pin 9 the green earth and pin 16 the RGB switching?

I have had a Daewoo DVD (DHC2200k) for a couple of months now and it is an excellent DVD player. I don`t know about the problems that SCAN have had with theirs but mine hasn`t had any at all. Maybe the SCAN one is a bit cheeper, but at least with Daewoo you get a brand name you can trust and a reliable player.

Fair enough, it may have a problem with RGB switching. But if you can switch your TV manually to an RGB input you wont have a problem. In all this is the best player you will get for under £200.
