RE: Philips DVDR 890 Picture Probs
thanks for letting me know..I`ll persevere and get a replacement unit....again(!)..I`ve checked and double checked my tapes/cameras/pc/ilink leads...seems I`ve had two dodgy machines on the trot from thesame shop...could this be a bad batch I wonder?

RE: Phillips 880 DVD+R questions
Can help you with 2 & 3...
www.valuemedia.co.uk/dvd.htm for affordable mail order DVD+R blank media (I`ve used `Datawrite` discs without any trouble at all)
Scart cable from VHS player into EXT 2 scart input at rear of 880 and press record. (The manual explains fully.)
Enjoy.

Philips DVDR 890 Picture Probs
Anybody else out there own a Philips DVDR890? I`m on a second machine already and still having trouble, took the first one back..still having problems with picture centering on DVD playback, ILINK input AND Composite video input (Cam1 & 2). Picture is way out, off center by a mile, still pretty bad with video setting to extreme right..what`s more, picture appears in different position on Cam 1 & 2, even when using identical input device and source material. Have tried 3 seperate input devices, multiple source tapes, both machines I`ve had so far are not up to scratch. EXT 1 & 2 inputs are fine.
It wpould be good to hear from someone who has this DVDR 890 and does not have this trouble, so I can have a little more faith in Philips than I do at the moment......
Very poor recorded picture centering with Camera inputs - Philips DVDR 890
Before I take my new Philips DVDR 890 back and ask for a replacement...
The picture recorded using ILINK or Video inputs at front (cam1 & cam2) are way offcentre...and bear no relation to the picture on the monitor / TV screen. Even with picture positioning feature set to extreme right, the recordings are still slightly off centre on playback (and that`s on any TV through every player I`ve tried).....on normal settiing they are so far off it`s unbelievable....and totally unnacceptable.
Just wondered if anybody out there has found this problem as well & it`s a known bug, or if I`m missing something really obvious in the set up.
