Philips 701 & 711 any difference?

Does any one know the difference between the Philips 711 and 701. there is £20 between them at Tesco but the specs seem identical. I have just swapped my Warfdale for the 701.

RE: Does the Daewoo DHC2200 use software decoding???

ARGOS DVD

I have been in the process of trying to buy a budget dvd from argos that will play DVD with reasonable quality (r1&r2). I first acquired the ALBA103 but quickly found 2 problems, No RGB output and lip sinc problems with region 1 disks. I then decided to exchange the ALBA for a DAEWOO. This has the same RGB problem but worst still on just some disks (Halloween restored version from Anchor Bay) really awful picture. The problem can be so bad it resembles something from windows media player. as I cant switch my Philips WS TV to RGB manually I purchased a s-video lead from lektropacks hoping picture would be better but no. I hoped I was not asking to much from a sub £200 player but I only wanted them to do what it said on the box.
Does any one know if the Bush2006 or Philips711 have any problems or can play region 1 disks

DAEWOO is perfect at playing T2 UE no problems at all--strange

RE: ATTN ADAM4

I have the Daewoo and a philps WS TV and I am in the same possession as you. If you are unable to manually switch to RGB on your TV the DVD player will not send a auto switch signal to the TV thus making it imposable to watch your film using RGB -That is the RGB problem. The problem with fuzzy edges is not RGB but the fact you are using the sub standard composite feed (although in set-up it will say RGB).
The other problem with this machine is the play back, most films are ok but some are terrible with very distinct blocking in the darker areas of the film. I swapped the ALBA for the Daewoo at Argos and I am very disappointed.

RE: SC2000 FIRMWARE FOR SUBTITLE/SCART PROBLEM NOW AVIALABLE

will you send the firmware to any one who has the DHC 2200k as long as we pay for it? What format does the firmware come in,is it on CD for example?
my DHC does not seem to have many of the faults associated with the upgrade but will not switch my TV to RGB (I think something with pin 9 on the scart or something) would you recommend trying upgrade? I also do not want to lose the region hack and multivision bypass will firmware affect this?
sorry about all the questions I don`t want to jump in blindfolded and lose my DVD
