RE: DVD and VHS combo

Hello Damp Detector
I recently bought the Bush DVHS1 Combo unit from Powerhouse. Retail price £199.99 though I got a good discount. Also available now from Argos at reduced price of £179.99. The Bush dvhs is, I believe, same unit as OrionDVC5000 from Tesco.com @ £214.95.
It is a 6 head Nicam vcr with all the usual features, with a high spec DVD player, but with only coaxial output, though this doesn`t appear to be detrimental to excellent 5.1 output.
It is not, according to the manual a multi region set, though as I am new to DVD I only have Region 2 discs, so can`t check this out.
Has 2 Scarts, and so far I am very pleased with quality of both VCR and DVD which plays my own CDRs with no problem.
As with you have been unable to find any hacks for this machine so far on the internet,(Region and Macrovision) but it is very new.
You may also want to consider the LG DV 1000, (about £230 from Argos, a bit cheaper from Jungle.co.uk.) which has added feature of easy direct recording from DVD to vcr (if you can overcome the Macrovision also on that machine).
I bought the Bush because Bush gets high reliabilty marks in magazines such as "Which", and,of course, it is cheaper.
Hope this helps - I really can recommend the Combo style, if for no other reason than to save space and wires under/over your t.v.
