RE: Tesco Offers Instore-DVDs & CDs
On my last few visits to Tesco, I`d noticed that their prices had increased. "The Others" was priced at £18.99 earlier in the week.
So reducing prices by 25% would explain why the retail prices had moved up.
RE: Splash Dvd any good ?
And I also ordered the McCartney DVD which also took a month to arrive. However, I also accept that if you pay a cheap price then there may be drawbacks.
As Splash tend to be at least a pound cheaper than Play, I would assume they can do this because they employ fewer people to process orders, chase stock, pack stock, answer e-mails, etc.
The fact that they also debit credit cards immediately would suggest that part of their business plan is to earn interest on the cash in their bank accounts. And if this means cheaper prices then I`m quite comfortable with that.
And these are small prices to pay when you consider some of the deals they offer on their web site. True Romance CE came down to £7.95 less than 6 weeks after it`s release in February. I didn`t see Play or Choices Direct getting anywhere near that price. And this seems to be a regular practice at Splash. I fully expect to see Splash reducing prices on recent titles quicker than it`s competitors do.
If you want reasonable prices and fast delivery choose Choices Direct. If you want reasonable prices and reasonably fast delivery choose Play. If you want very competitive prices then choose Splash.
Being cynical I can`t help but think that the people who complain about Splash will still continue to use the site as and when it suits them. Paul McCartney being a case in point!
RE: BBC`s Hound Of The Baskervilles...why..?
I thought it was OK and at least the BBC made an effort unlike ITV which kept repeating programmes that were only on a few months ago.
But I also think that Richard Roxborough should be given another chance. He wasn`t that bad and it was interesting to see a more action orientated Holmes. But, I still don`t think you can beat Jeremy Brett as Sherlock though.
And it was good to see Dr Watson showing attitude.
But most importantly, Liza Tarbuck was looking very foxy even without make up. Makes a change to have an attractive woman on TV that doesn`t resemble a stick insect. Just a shame the BBC didn`t take another liberty with the story and make her part bigger (excuse the pun!).
RE: Band of Brothers @ WHSmith.co.uk
I`m absolutely disgusted with WHSmith Online and will never use them again.
I ordered Band of Brothers several weeks ago and then yesterday visited Play.Com to find they were running out of stock of the tin can version. I checked on the progress of my order to see what was happening. The web site said that the supplier was out of stock. I then e-mailed Customer Services and asked whether I would be getting the tin can or cardboard version.
I had a response back saying they couldn`t guarantee which version I would get so I`ve cancelled all of my orders (£140 worth).
I had the Best Of U2 CD on order from them as well and again the "Supplier was out of stock". I`ve just been into Tesco and picked a copy off the shelf at the same price as WHSmith Online.
The moral of the story.....despite being one of the largest retailers of music and video in the country, WHSmith seem determined not to succeed online. Don`t be seduced by offers of triple card points and free delivery. It isn`t worth it!!!
RE: BandOf Brothers Cheapest Price I`ve Seen Yet
Wrong forum to be putting this in but as I`m replying to a post.....how about the R2 version at WhSmith.co.uk for £42.99 with free delivery on orders over £40 and triple clubcard points before the end of October.
RE: Why haven`t play.com got
I buy nearly all my discs from Play as well and was very disappointed they haven`t stocked it especially when you see some of the stuff they do range!!!
I ordered it through Splashdvd.com and paid £14.99 with free delivery. Not the world`s best website, navigation is a nightmare so you might want to do a search using the box provided. Hopefully my copy will drop through the letterbox today.

FACE on DVD
First time entering something on the forum.
Does anyone know when FACE (starring Robert Carlyle and Ray Winstone) is finally making an appearance?
I`ve had this on order with Play.com for the best part of 6 months and they`re currently not showing a release date. Blackstar is saying the release date was the 19th of August. And the news section on dvdreviewer suggests that it`ll be out next week.
Any responses are gratefully received.
