RE: Philips DVD HDD 3460/3450/3440 reviews/experiences needed!
I bought a 3440 from Argos for £180 on 18th Dec. Fine recorder most of the time, but when doing timed recordings from a scart using RGB (e.g. in my case from an NTL cable box) both DVD and HDD recordings come out most times with an orange colour tint; and this doesn`t occur ever when doing manual recordings! Returned the machine to Argos for replacement, next one the same. Discussed with Philips, they took it back for repair, and sent new machine the end of last week. Still same problem. Investigation shows the colour tint problem seems to occur if you do a timed recording from scart using RGB and the signal is present when the timer switches on. If signal absence (STB off) and then STB comes on (e.g. using reminder facility of NTL STB) after the timed recording has started, then the problem doesn`t seem to occur. Waiting for Philips tech dept to phone back on this tomorrow.
If you use composite video or record from analogue, I think the machine would be a good choice at the price. Otherwise, Philips need to fix this issue before I could recommend it.

RE: Synchronisation problems
Just played Shrek for the first time on a region 2 Toshiba 220E and have exactly the same porblem. So it must be the DVD itself. I noticed that some of the scenes in the featurettes had worse sync with the animation than in the main film so it must be these that are the problem.
