Aiwa xd dv480 hack?

I bought an Aiwa xd dv480 the other day in Amsterdam, and tried to get it region free, following instructions listed elsewhere in this forum:
1 CONNECT PLAYER
2 WITH REMOTE TURN POWER ON
3 WAIT UNTIL NO DISC APPEARS
4 PRESS PAUSE ON REMOTE AND ENTER: 342292: HOWEVER AT THIS POINT "CODE" DOES NOT APPEAR, SO I CANNOT GO FURTHER!
HAS ANYONE A SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM?
