No you cant refer people to me .... I`m an evil ( and some may say childish) b*stard who may be about to be banned again for breaching the rules :))

RE: Samsung M104B

Cant be too carefull with that firmware reprogramming service you offer at a very reasonable price to enable people to hack their otherwise unhackable Samsung DVD players from your very helpfull website located at http://www.709firmware.fsnet.co.uk/

RE: Goodbye from Steve Hoyle

Just to follow up on this .....

I have been in contact via email with DVD Reviewer over the past few days with a view to resolving this ....

A monthly figure was agreed upon regarding having a "standard button" in the forums but there was still a problem with use of the forum ....

I would be allowed to post messages and sign off with

Steve - DVDChips

but I would not be allowed to ever mention my URL unless someone specifically asked me for it .... to refer someone to a me all I could do is say

"please refer to the chippers at the top of the forum" or similar ....

I could not say " we have a chip for this " or " we can do this for you"

So in effect each time I did this I could be referring someone to a competitor and may have been better not posting the message and the customer may have come to me ......

You can see how crazy this would be .... I would be active on this forum but could be referring customers to a competior who may have a more attractive website or button ...

I dont feel I would be able to keep to the rules of this forum .. I dont see how I could possibly be any use if sticking to them .... I dont want to give vague advice ... I`d rather give none and so this is how it is going to be.

I never actually posted any messages deliberatly selling products .... just advised people what needed to be done and idenfied myself and my homepage .... I never said "come to me" etc .... It seems to me the rules need to be clarified .... if it is not okay to refer to your homepage then the rules should not say "It`s also OK to put up links to your homepage "

Regarding the button on the forum .... this still may be an idea to consider even though I wont be posting here but right now at this time of year the last thing I need is advertising and more customers ..... when we reach April / May time and things start to get quieter then this may be a reasonable idea ..... I was eager to get the button to resume posting here but that no longer matters.

THE END

Steven Mathew Hoyle ( May aswell join in the extra long name game :))) )
