Audio question

Does anyone know if the optical output on a dvd machine can be used in the same way as on a cd drive so that audio can be copied to a minidisc through the optical output?

Hacks for Samsung DVD-MC20

Hi,
Is there any region hacks for the new Samsung MC20 ? - a remote hack would be preferable but if anyone knows if an alternative chipping solution is available.
