RE: Simple question on DVD recorders that I can`t find a difinitive answer for.

Thanks for all the info.

I use most of the suggestions at the moment depending on what I`m recording and from where. I was really trying to avoid any analogue convertion and go straight from digital signal to a digital recording. Sky+ has a digital out and the thomson dhd4000 has a digital out, but the only recorder with digital in I have is Mini-disc. I will carry on recording via my sound card onto HD. The quality is only noticable to the trained ear (i.e me) and I intend to get a DHD4000 in the sales.

Maybe I`ll get a sound card with digital in.

Simple question on DVD recorders that I can`t find a difinitive answer for.

Can DVD recorders burn audio CD`s.

I ask this because I am a great fan of radio documentries, comedy and drama and would love to record the radio via Sat/Freeview onto CD. For instance the `sold on song` with George Michael last night was an hour long ideal for archive on CD and BBC7 are currently repeating the original radio series of Little Britian from 2001. Is it possible with all models, just some or none? At the moment I record onto minidisc or via the BBC stream on broadband to HD, but the quality is not as good.

Cheers in advance :)

RE: The end of the road for electrical DIYers ?

I understand that `major work` is defined as any work in the kitchen / bathroom / outside areas. You can still add light fittings and plug sockets / spurs, but not in these areas. local electricians must think christmas has come early!

Found this - Ellion DVR-530S - Anyone got one!

DVD Recorder/built in TV tuner/ PLAYS DivX as well. Not dual format but otherwise almost the holy grail. Your comments please.

RE: Russian Roulette......Fancy a bit of that?

You could argue that it was a real bullet, just not a live one! and it was a real gun just one that wasn`t capable of firing a live round! - god I`d make a good lawyer!!

RE: Russian Roulette......Fancy a bit of that?

Regardless of it being a blank or not, the gun didn`t go bang! while pointing at his head, and that was the whole point. Being able to predict what chamber the bullet was in.

RE: Children of the eighties - look in!

Umbongo! Umbongo! they drink it in the Congo!
The python picked the pashion fruit
The marma set the mandarin
The Parrrot painted packets that the whole caboodle landed in.
So when it comes to fun and sun
and goodness in the jungle
they all proclaim the mighty one
The juice they call UMBONGO!

RE: Scardy Cat! Scardy Cat!

My brother and I have our own film ratings and have used them since our early teens.

S = Stress
US = Unnessary Stress
BUS = Bloody Unnessary Stress

Few films that make it to BUS, but one that did was "Children of the Corn" as you say, don`t want to watch it again incase it shatters those feelings. Then again maybe it was that bad!! (must have been the music).

RE: Thanx for your advice (Clayts,RichardH and markyd) New advice needed?

Read an article in a mag once ( no I can`t remember, HiFi Choice, What Cinema, you know the sort of thing ) anyway they got an amp and a dvd and plenty of cables from £2 - £120 and as a real test two lengths of coat hanger wire! - Result was the cable made no difference to the digital signal not even the coat hanger. BUT hey speaker wire is a whole different playground of wheebles.

P.S did`nt convince me I got £40 digital cable in the end.

RE: Buffy on Sky One last night

I have been told by someone "in the know" that the reason Sky don`t broadcast in widescreen is that the majority of subscribers are C & below demografic ( hope that`s spelt right ) therefore they would be alienating most of their viewers who have older televisions - his words not mine.

One other point, I opted for DTT over Sky as the only extra widescreen channel to watch would be Premier Widescreen. I think it`s time they sorted it out with like you say dedicated widescreen channelsor something it`s not like they haven`t got the bandwidth.

RE: Buffy on Sky One last night

Oh yes it is!!!! :-)

RE: Buffy on Sky One last night

Sadly I had to resist watching last night as I`m boycoting Sky until they show American shows in their original widescreen. Alas I will wait `till late this year on good ol` BBC2 (even better wait for the late night uncut repeat - gosh some weeks you get 4 maybe 5 secounds more! ). Seriously I think that the affects the ressurrection has on buffy will be very interesting.
