RE:
I think the attitude to eating meat is a cultural thing, most people in this country see meat as food, so therefore they don`t have a problem with eating chicken/beef/lamb, however most people would baulk at the thought of eating cats or dogs, whereas in other cultures that is normal.
Coming from a hindu family, I was brought up to believe that all life is precious and that it was morally wrong to eat any animal/fish or even eggs.
I do however eat meat, fish and eggs, because I have grown up in england, if I was born in India then that would have probably been a different story (majority of people there a vegetarians).
So i can`t call myself a hindu i suppose, and I do feel guilt if I sit and think about it, but we are conditioned to think that burger=food not part of a animal that was killed so I could eat it, so I rarely give it a thought.

RE: lord of the rings...film vs book HOW MANY DIFFERENCES!?!?!?!
Best Fictional book of all time IMO.
RE: lord of the rings...film vs book HOW MANY DIFFERENCES!?!?!?!
The biggest change, and the most dissapointing for me wasat the ending of the movie.
Frodo is shown to tell Aragorn that he is leaving, and Aragorn duly goes along with this decision.
This is totally wrong!!!
In the book Frodo decides to go it alone, closely followed by Sam they go off in thier boat unnoticed.
After Boromir`s death, the Orcs run off with Pippin and Merry, leaving Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli perplexed to as to what happen to all 4 hobbits. it takes them a while to kinda figure out what has happened, and Aragorn and the other 2 are not Happy that Frodo is going to attempt the Perilous journey with Sam as his only companion.
This change has serious reprecusions on the motivations of the characters.
Other than that the main changes are giving Arwen a more prominant role, ommiting the whole Tom Bombadill and Barowrights episode, and tottaly f**king up Lothlorien and Galadriels character.

RE: DVDBoxOffice or DVDImport?
Personally I would go for DVDImport, DVDboxoffice have always taken too long with my orders (usually arriving in 16 days), whereas orders from dvdimport have usually arived in 5-6 days (if in stock).
Hope that helps, although I think u will be told off for posting in the wrong forum.

RE: Tesco just recalled Wharfedale ` deathtrap ` TV`s !
Thing is the `deathtrap` model i spoke of is not the widescreen, but the 4:3 one.
RE: Wharfedale deathtrap
Bear,
I have no Idea about how it happened or why it happened, but simply that one minuite it was fine, the next minuite there were flames inside.
Tesco are investigating the matter, and I hope something is done so no one is hurt.

RE: Wharfedale deathtrap
Bowf
I take your point, but this incident happened in the afternoon, whilst I was watching the damn thing!!!
Dont tell me that I should have kept it off then too ;)
RE: Wharfedale deathtrap
I have been in contact with the customer services manager at Tesco`s, and it seems they are treating this matter very seriously, as they should.
She mentioned that Tesco are carrying out a full scale investigation, and that all TV`s of this model could be recalled.
IF ANYONE ELSE HAS A WHARFEDALE TV PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS!
ESPECIALLY AT THIS TIME OF YEAR!!!

RE: Wharfedale deathtrap
Phoned the Tesco where I got the TV from today, spoke to a nice lady on the customer services desk, who asked if I could bring in the remains of the TV in to the store.
So I shovelled the remains of the TV into it`s original box, put it in my car and set off for Tescos. I happened to first go to the wrong Tescos in Feltham, and therefore had the displeasure of meeting their `customer service` staff,
After telling the lady on the counter what had happened, she replied to my horror: "so what, it`s an electrical thing, you can expect it to happen".
Her manager then comes and tells me; seeming unconcerned about my story that Tesco had done all they could by advertising a recall for the affected models with a known defect. She said she couldn’t help me.
ALL OF THIS WITHOUT ASKING WHAT MODEL I HAD PURCHASED.
She then pointed out upon looking at my receipt that I had purchased the TV from the other Feltham Tesco.
So I prodded along to the other Tesco, totally disillusioned, and demoralised.
Thankfully I met the lady I had spoken to on the phone. She was shocked to hear how her colleagues had acted. She looked at the box I had bought in, and told me straight away that the model I had bought (TV-550) was not part of the recall!!!!
She was seemed genuinely concerned about what had happened with my TV and promised to take this up with Wharfedale.
She also said that I can have a replacement TV of my choice up to the same value, and I can guarantee you I will never touch a Wharfedale again personally.
Thanks to this lady this issue is going to be treated how it should, and I will be allowed to take this serious matter further with Wharfedale, and also my faith in Tesco has been resolved.
Hopefully this will never happen to anyone again, especially if they cannot physically throw it out of their house before it burns down!!!!!
