RE: Which Stand Alone DVD recorder should I buy
Quote:
For God`s sake, Paull, read the guy`s requirements will you? he want`s -RW Panasonic doesn`t do -RW. I reckon if someone came on and said they wanted to buy blancmange, you`d recommend the Panasonic E55
Hehe that`s the funniest reply I`ve read for a while ;-)

RE: MICO Espejo R311. DVD Recorder
Picked up one of these yesterday, seeing as it`s the first one I`ve seen below the magic £100 price point. Seems to work fine, though the ff/rew is a bit pants to say the least..I guess I`ll get used to it (same buttons for chapter skip +/- and ff/rew, no 2x ff)
PC World (I know I know!) are doing a good deal on +RW`s at the moment, 15 jewel cased HP ones for £12 ish.

RE: Need help choosing one of the players listed inside.
I`ve got the Acoustic Solutions DVD 521 and it plays everything I`ve thrown at it (including 80 minute non-standard SVCD CDRWs, which friends` Dansai and Cyberhomes have refused to play).
RE: Why R1 over R2?
Interesting, the consensus seems to be that the lower quality picture is more than made up for by the extras and earlier release dates etc. I thought the whole point of DVD was "ultimate picture quality" - I think I`ll stick to R2 for now!
Why R1 over R2?
Subject says it all really, I`m new to DVD and am wondering what all the fuss about R1 discs is. Aren`t they in NTSC which has 100 less lines of vertical resolution, therefore the R2 PAL discs are always going to have superior picture quality? Or am I missing something?!
