You may have worked this out for yourself by now, but I also had a problem.
There are actually 2 `Repeat` buttons on the remote control. One is marked `Repeat a->b` and immediately left of it `repeat` (only).
You have to use the one marked `repeat` (only).
(I also found that when you do the cold start and press `Play` and `Stop` together to get the language menu, you have to give the player a few seconds first after turning on - or try again after a few more seconds)
I found that the code I entered (38767) did not appear on screen as I entered it, but after entering the code the current region (2) did appear. I then pressed 9 (for multi region) and followed the rest of the steps, and it worked fine!
Guess I was too eager!
