Free return USA Flight with Sony DVD System

Just seen this offer on Empire Directs site, might be worth a punt if you are in the market.

You get a free return flight to east coast USA (have to pay taxes) - a few date restrictions which I suppose is fair enough on these types of deals, but all in all it isn`t a bad offer. The cheapest product I could see to qualify for the offer is £269 and of course there is nothing to stop you doing the usual and flogging it on ebay.

Better choice of dates than the Daily Mail flights offer, plus you don`t have to put up with buying that nausating rag for 30 odd days.

Life of Mammals £19.75 , Traffik TV Series £7.87

Couple of great TV series that are going cheap.

Life of Mammals is on Amazon marketplace - Brand New, Only annoyed that I bought one the other day for £24.99. Hmmm.

Traffik is is on dvdplus.co.uk - brilliant Channel 4 series on the drugs trade.

RE: Tech Help Needed

Cheers Alan, didn`t seem to work - although am I right in trying to do it through the internet options drop down menu? Any other ideas anyone?

Tech Help Needed

I`m trying to access my Yahoo mail account from work but the pesky IT dept has put a block on me from getting it. I get an error message saying see system administrator for access to this site. The bloke in charge of this is an utter chimp who relishes his "gatekeeper" position, so was wondering if anyone knew how I could bypass this and access Yahoo mail through a different route. I don`t think POP mail is an option as Yahoo charge for it.
Cheers in advance....

RE: Movietyme delivery times.

Fantastic. Been sent a second faulty disc which I have had to return at my own expense. Have demanded a refund. Not going to post on their site anymore, as I am sick of either no reply or high handed responses like `don`t flame us`, `we are understaffed` etc etc. A glance at the site on DVD forums shows that the workers at movietyme regularly post messages which have f*** all to do with work, while people are waiting for repsonses to queries. They have also just asked about whether people are interested in particpating in a rental scheme. Why not sort out the basics of customer service first??. I appreciate that problems happen from time to time - that I can live with, but being ignored when you are holding my cash p***es me and quite clearly a lot of other people off.
If anyone from Movietyme happens across this message my user name on the site is jimmytg, and I have sent a message to craig detailing the problem and where to find order info etc on the threads. Until I get the refund I will keep posting on this site ensuring everyone is aware of how poor you really are.

RE: Movietyme delivery times.

Success. Went onto the Dvdforums site and posted my greivances. Got a reply within five minutes from someone who works at Movietyme. They have an offical thread on another site if you need to speak/shout at someone. I still think they should try answering the phones once in a while instead of lurking around the forums trying to appease angry people.

RE: Movietyme delivery times.

They are absolutley s**** at Customer Service. I have tried to contact them by e-mail and phone over the last few days to organise the return of a faulty disc but so far I haven`t had a reply. One of the e-mail addresses on the site just bounces and I just called up again and their BT mail box is full! You can`t leave any messages. *****

Lawrence of Arabia £12.99 @ 101cd.com

A bargain indeed- I think this finishes after the 1st Feb.

RE: black hawk down vs saving private ryan

Grunt Boy: Are you in fact Geraldo?

"That`s your problem and you have to deal with it"

Sounds like you have been watching too many day time chat shows.

Bluelou: That mission was indeed to capture 2 lieutenants, but I believe the overall objective of US intervention was to take out Mr Adid, which didn`t go too well. Troops started to withdraw 4 days later, but it took a few months to get them all out.

Anyway I`m off to have some "me-time" and then go to rage counselling.

RE: black hawk down vs saving private ryan

"One of the most lopsided battlefield victories in US history!" - more like their worst day since Vietnam.
"5000+ sammi`s dead - figure has never been released but generally agreed to be in the hundreds.
"Shows it how it is" - do you mean a good old asswhupping of the ragheads, with a bite sized bit of info on why it happened.

Also ignoring the convienient whitewash that it was Aidid they wanted and failed to get, that Clinton withdrew four days later...I could go on.
Do you also believe that the they captured Enigma first?

I don`t have a problem with what the Americans did and this isn`t some deep rooted hatred of the way they operate overseas. It is just the constant twisting in movies of what actually happened, as though the truth isn`t deserving enough of being captured on film.

Trip Fontaine - I find Fox News with Geraldo to be far superior for war news. His buffount hair, porno moustach and no nonsense lies make for great viewing. After he was on recenetly they decided to interview a GQ fashion writer about the conflict in Afghanistan. A new low. Next week Vanessa Feltz fast ropes into Kabul for a check on high street bargains.

RE: black hawk down vs saving private ryan

The special effects are pretty damn good in both, but the films are poles apart. Black Hawk Down is your typical American cheese, full of too much whooping and God bless America cack. Private Ryan was very moving in parts whereas BHD seemed hell bent on creating a triumph out of what was an utter disaster for our friends across the pond.

RE: Godfather DVD collection

I recently ordered three copies of the Godfather sets from Streets Online (affiliated to MVC). I actually received one copy of the Godfather plus two x-files season two box sets. All this cost me £75. The X-files sets retail for 89 bones each on the High Street. Not wanting to sit through 25 episodes of Sci-Fi s***e, I ended up swapping these in a couple of big chain stores for The World at War Box Set (£99), League of Gentlemen both series (£35), and one copy of the Godfather box set (£49) plus a few minidiscs.
All in all I reckon I got quite a bargain. Anyone else have any similar tales of dot-com order mishaps which have worked out in your favour?

RE: Twin Peaks TV Series

Just ordered from movietyme for £34.99 - seems to be the cheapest around. From reading these forums it appears that stuff doesn`t get caught up in customs. I doubt Play will do any better if they get their act together as most US only sites are retailing at £31. Twats.

RE: Twin Peaks TV Series

I can`t believe they still don`t have it at Play.com. They are normally months ahead of the game! I keep e-mailing them and getting stock "blah blah can`t be arsed...." responses so maybe some fellow fans might like to show there is some interest. Especially since they are generally the cheapest for R1 in the UK. I find swearing at uninterested customer service people often elicits the most exciting reply.

RE: How about a visit to the local market?

Yeah leather lane market in London is the same, although not quite as cheap. New release two disc sets are around £15.99 and singles are £12.99 - all original stuff. For those who are interested it is on Monday to Friday only and nearest tube is Farringdon.
Worth a look?

The World at War

Does anyone know of a cheaper place to buy the five disc box set than DVDpopcorn?. It`s on for £79.99. Play247 don`t bundle togther the set.
Thanks

Raging Bull two disc set

If you go to Choicesdirect.co.uk, they are still advertising a single disc version of Raging Bull for £13.59. I ordered it and got sent the new two disc version. This probably isn`t remarkable but still pretty good if you are a fan.
