RE: Mico Diamante 3000 VCD

deadman walking - assuming you mean copied DVD`s on DVD recordable discs then yes. Out of the box the Mico Diamante 3000 plays every kind of DVD recordable disc I`ve tried. But whether it will play a specific copied DVD will depend on how that DVD copy was produced. As mentioned previously - some DVD copying programs, ie Nero, produce discs that are playable on computer DVD drives but not all standalone players. This is the fault of the copying software, not the player. In my experience - if the DVD copy has been correctly produced the Mico will play it.

However, If you mean copied DVD`s that have been converted to VCD format onto CD recordable discs then no. The Mico won`t play VCD`s until the firmware has been updated to V1.1 by using an upgrade CD available from the helpdesk number on the box.

RE: Mico Diamante 3000 VCD

Firmware update for VCD/SVCD playback is via upgrade CD from the Helpline number on the box. Mine plays authored VCD`s no problem.
Before and after the firmware update plays DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW no problem. In fact I haven`t found any discs that it won`t play.

Your problem could be due to the way the DVD backup copy was made.
Some DVD copying software (Nero) produces discs with a file format that is incompatible with some standalone DVD players. The discs will play fine on a PC DVD drive.

RE: JVC HR-XV1 Multi Region hack

I`ve had mine for nearly 6 months and haven`t found a hack for it yet.
There appear to be several clones around from Toshiba, Bush, Orion, Grundig so there`s still hope.
Incidentally mine freezes when playing DVD-R`s and won`t play +R`s at all. VHS video playback isn`t brilliant either, so couldn`t really recommend it.
