Rob E Taylor, where did you buy your DVD400?

Rob,

Which Safeway you buy your Ferguson DVD400 from? The one near me has never got them in. They have a `Reoc A5` for 139, unfortunately they haven`t done a 100 pound player yet.

RE: ? bout custom $ from UK to US- hope someone can help

Box sets are quite often cheaper in the UK than the US. Especially if you`re buying VHS - they squeeze more episodes per tape in the UK. Single DVD / VHS purchases are usually cheaper in the US however. I used to live in the US and ordered stuff from Blackstar on a regular basis. VAT free is a nice bonus too.

RE: LG 3000e v LG 4710

The LG 3000e definitely exists! I have seen it in my local Tesco for about 125 quid. The price might have changed as it was a month ago.

RE: LG 3000e v LG 4710

Take a look at www.lgdvd.co.uk and go to the FAQ section. It explains that the 3000 and 4710 are both good budget models to go for and they use the same decoder chip.

ESS video chipsets

I have read recently that some machines use ESS chipsets and are prone to blocking and poor picture quality. Does anyone now which manufacturers use this chipset so I can make sure the player I buy doesn`t have this problem?

RE: FERGUSON DVD 400 REGION HACK

Is the Ferguson DVD400 the same as the Proline 2000?

RE: Ferguson DVD400

Aren`t the Proline models supposed to be more than a bit problematic?

RE: Ferguson DVD400

Here`s another link (which will get you to the comet page)

RE: Ferguson DVD400

Yes, of course.

Go to www.comet.co.uk, click on the DVD players link on the left, this will bring up the Ferguson DVD400 on the right side of the page. Clicking on the player enables you to see a larger version of the picture - strangely, it looks like the brand name has been removed from the picture - which makes me think that they have put up a picture of the model it has been cloned off!

Ferguson DVD400

I have seen this DVD player in Comet - I have searched on the web to find out more details and can`t get any more info on this model.

I am assuming it is a Comet-only deal, does anyone know which model it is cloned off?
