Video/Visuals
The image quality is really good, considering the age of the film and the fact that the movie is set in the dark. Overall everything is pretty clear, even without my glasses!

Audio/Soundtrack
They’ve added a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack, although I have to admit it still sounds a little “boxy” in places. I think they could’ve done a slightly better job than this, but again the film is getting on a bit now!

Extra Features
Scene access, commentary, trailer, etc… All what we have come to expect from the “average” DVD. Additionally there is a feature on special effects which is interesting (it shows the days before CGI!) There’s a picture gallery included, and the package (which is in a tin box) comes with a booklet full of pictures and notes on the movie, which I think is excellent compared to the usual single page that you get.

Overall Opinion
What can I say? I remember when I first saw this on video, I must’ve been about 18 at the time. I hadn’t really heard of the film, but from the moment it started I was hooked, the special effects (for the time) were brilliant, and unfortunately this is the only thing that let’s the movie down. Not all, but some of the monsters have aged really badly, so bad that I actually laughed in places! Which is a shame because this is still a good fast paced film, so don’t let that put you off! It’s just a pity that it couldn’t have been given the “Star Wars” treatment, but you can’t have everything, and it was originally only a low budget movie anyway.

The film itself is sheer madness! Blood, evil creatures, chainsaws, blood, possession, zombie’s, blood, gore, and more blood! Special note must be given to the camera angles as well, especially the “evil presence” which chases the hero (Ash) around the forest!

Is it worth buying though? If you’re a horror fan, or want something different then I’d highly recommend Evil Dead 2, it just breaks all the rules and shows what a wild imagination director Sam Raimi has! It’s not for the feint hearted though!

Groovy!!!

I`m going to keep this short and sweet: if you love Evil Dead 2 you will love this disc. Buy it! It`s widescreen, it`s got a remastered soundtrack, it`s got commentary from Raimi and Campbel! I think it`s deleted now, but you can find it on ebay quite easily!

This is an essential purchase for any fan of this excellent film and puts the Region 2 release to shame! (not that that would be hard!)
Picture and sound quality are excellent, and the 30 minute featurette "The Gore The Merrier" is informative & funny and contains some very rare footage.
The audio commentary also sees Raimi & Campbell on fine form and is guaranteed to raise a smile.
Add to this a photo gallery, trailer, booklet & a THX optimode feature, not to mention the very attractive tin that it all comes in, and you have a package that every Evil Dead fan should own.

Evil Dead 2, the best in the trilogy is a good piece of rubbish. The film is wildly entertaining (Eyes in mouths!) and does also send a chill down your spine at the same time.
this dvd edition has served the film well with a nice THX transfer and some decent bonus material. The commentary is also entertaining with Bruce Campbell explaining the uses of different colour blood. Good film, Good Sound, Good Visual and Good extras, what more could you want?

When people ask me "which do you think is better Evil Dead or Evil Dead 2?" I don't give them an answer because the two films are different, the first film is a straightforward horror flick (now dated but still a great watch), and the second is a Horror Comedy, which works to great effect.

The plot is very similar to that of The Evil Dead, a group of students spend a weekend in a dilapidated cabin in the middle of the woods, they stumble upon a mysterious book known as the "Necronomicon" roughly translated as the "Book Of The Dead" and a tape recorder from an archaeologist who is trying to translated the whole of the book, once the tape is played it unleashes the evil spirits.

The picture is fantastic, Anchor Bay have given what every Evil Dead fan wanted, a perfect picture for a perfect film (sort of).
The print is virtually dirt and grain free, and we are presented with a lovely 1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen transfer and also a 1.33:1 Pan & Scan.

Sound: -

Again, 100% perfect again, the sound is crisp and clear and uses the rears quite a lot.
We only get a English 5.1 Dolby Digital track, but it's the best you could ever hope for.

Extras: -
Apart from the Limited Edition Tin the disk is presented in, you also get quite a 48-page booklet, which is quite interesting; the disk itself has a good array of extras.
The first is a hilarious commentary from the cast and crew, but it's Bruce "The Man With The Chin" Campbell who adds the comic relief, with Sam talking quite seriously.
A Featurette: The Gore The Merrier, which shows what type of special effects the used on Evil Dead 2, which is quite good as the film was on a low budget.

Overall: -

This is a must have for any Evil Dead fan, the limited edition tin is worth the extra money, there is a normal plastic case version but u don't get the Booklet.
This film is hilarious and gory at the same time, with some now dated special effects (but don't let that put you off).
Evil Dead 2 is fantastic as a Horror film and as a Comedy, so weather your in the mood for either this one is a treat.

Feature:

Well this is the best in the trilogy, Evil Dead 2 differs from the first because, well this is funny. Evil Dead 2 can at times be a right laugh eyes into mouths,a dancing corpse and an evil hand are just some of the surprises in store. The budget has increased a little so the effect are generaly better. The acting is still rubbish but Campbell gives a very funny performance as our `groovy` hero Ash.

Sound:

Overall the Dolby Digital is good.

Picture:

The transfer is good, and the film looks better than ever!

Extras:

A good selection from anchor bay. The commenatry is very good giving a lot of insight like the blood was changed colour to get passed the censors. The Gore The Merrier Documenatry is really good and gives more insight into how a low budget picture can have effects like that. Overall the best package you can get hold of Evil Dead 2.
