Synopsis:
An adaptation of the novel by H.G. Wells. The sensitive Mr Polly finds himself out of work when he is sacked for daydreaming. His life is in chaos. When his father dies and leaves him a large inheritance, he decides to see the world and promptly buys himself a bicycle. After a failed love affair he opens his own draper`s shop. Unhappily married, Mr Polly contemplates suicide when the business goes under... Might there be another, happier avenue of escape for him?
