Review of Willie Nelson Some Enchanted Evening

3 / 10

Introduction

Willie Nelson is a celebrated country music artist who has been around many years. His colourful life including a series of failed marriages and alcoholism has provided plenty of inspiration for his brand of "outlaw country" music.

Not content with music Nelson has also appeared in many films including: The Electric Horseman and Wag the Dog. His latest role was Uncle Jesse in the remake of The Dukes of Hazzard.

This DVD is of a show before an invited audience and the songs included are:
Spanish Eyes, Moon River, Some Enchanted Evening, What a Wonderful World, South of the Border, Old Buttermilk Sky, Where is Your Heart?, To Each His Own, Twilight Time, Accentuate the Positive, City of New Orleans, When I Dream, Pancho and Lefty, Always on My Mind, Old Friends, On the Road Again.

Video

This is an incredibly dull reproduction of a tedious show and there`s nothing the cameraman can do to make it more interesting.

Audio

Despite considering myself fond of Nelson`s music most of the songs left me unmoved. The only song of note was "Always on my Mind" which was a cracking version of the Elvis Presley song. It served to remind how the rest of the show never got going.

The sound was average.

Features

None.

Conclusion

Releasing a poor DVD of an artist who is very talented is simply a unnecessary insult to his fans. Willie Nelson has been around a few years and yeas he is wearing it but please don`t throw out these cheap, nasties for an undeserving audience.

Fans will be disappointed in the quality of this production and I found it deeply disappointing.

Please don`t buy it as it only encourages them.
