Oh, this movie has aged very well. Too bad Disney produced such a bare disk to it.
If you don`t mind about half a dozen memorable songs, a
dictator as a dad, a foolish mom, a magical nanny and 2 of the ugliest children ever caught on film (and now on DVD as well), this is the movie for you.
The video transfer for this 35 year-old film is excellent. Although one can find a scratch here and there, most of the movie is as clear and crisp as it gets.
Despite the age of the special effects, they all look very glorious.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is a bit flat. Well, yeah, there is an occasion use of the surrounds (especially in the second part of the movie), but still, I thought Disney would enrich their mix a bit.
As mentioned, Disney did not bother to put any extra features on the disk (other than an 8 languages soundtrack) and as if this was not enough - it`s a flipper. OUCH! Therefore, I cannot recommend you to buy the disk. Rent it, watch it and hum all of the familiar tunes. :)
