Synopsis:
All the power and majesty of animation`s greatest achievement - Disney`s Academy Award winning film, `The Lion King` - return for `The Lion King II: Simba`s Pride`. From the hilarious humour of Timon and Pumbaa to the magnificent, adventure-packed world of the Serengeti, the circle of life continues with an incredible all-new story.

Kiara, Simba`s playfully headstrong daughter and heir to the Pride Lands, is on the prowl for adventure. Escaping her bumbling baby-sitters Timon and Pumbaa, Kiara runs off to the Outlands, which are strictly off limits. There she meets the mischievous Kovu - a young cub chosen to walk in Scar`s paw prints. The rift between the Outlanders and Simba`s Pride deepens as Kiara and Kovu`s feelings for each other grow. But will love find a way to bring their very different worlds together as one?

An all-star cast returns, including Matthew Broderick (Simba), Nathan Lane (Timon), Ernie Sabella (Pumbaa) and Robert Guillame (Rafiki), along with stunning Disney animations and five spectacular new songs, to offer breathtaking entertainment for everyone.

Not as half as good as Lion King (which for a strange reason was never released on DVD - what a shame!!!). It just goes to show that you cannot (and therefore should not) try to beat a masterpiece.
The story is too similar to TLK and most of the characters have too similar a behavior to their parents.
The animation itself is cool, but I still like the animation of TLK better.
The video transfer is excellent despite the pan&scan. The animation is rendered in a smooth way with no signs of compression at all.
The DD 5.1 audio is nice but the songs are not as captivating as they were on TLK. The various languages dubbing is quite good. It gave me a chance to listen to Simba roar in 7 different languages. Extraordinary.
Bottom line? Write Disney and demand they release The Lion King (the first one) on DVD. About this disk - rent it only if you need to babysit a couple of your neighbors` kids.

I saw this `video-only-release` in the cinema. It was a one-time-only performance. But I saw it in widescreen format (I think it was 1,85:1).
The story was nice, not as good as `The Lion King`, but it was a natural sequence with nice songs and a nice images. However, it added nothing new to what was seen in The Lion King.
Yet, Disney released this video on DVD in a P&S format. That`s the main reason why I won`t buy this one. Why Disney, why not the original widescreen format?

The DVD had nice picture quality and the sound was good. But it didn`t leave a great impression, it was `just` good.
The DVD has no extra`s at all, but that`s nothing new with Disney.
