This is it THE big Action/ Adventure/ Disaster Movie,
OK So for the most part it is totally unrealistic - but the effects are amazing and you can see it all on screen in all it`s technological detail, so it works and like Independence day it doesn`t even attempt to take it self seriously.
But it is Tremendous fun and isn`t that what a movie is supposed to be all about?
I can Imagine the director saying Wait until they see and hear this on DVD!
Sound and Picture is what DVD is all about!
You already know about the Special features which are cool.
Commentries, `making of` and Effects Info and the money spent on ben Afflecks teeth, if you are into the sort of thing. The gag reel was cool tho NOT that funny as for the deleted scenes, they could not have been that important because (apart from some character stuff about bruce willis and his family) I pretty well missed them. But why do these special collectors editions have to go on two discs? I`d much rather have one - double sided disc.

Anyway this film is FUN, So watch Armageddon!! And don`t be ashamed to enjoy yourself!

This is an awful, awful film. Non existing plot, acting or indeed point make it one of the worst films ever made. Sentimental, Americanised tripe.

This is truely one of the best dvds i have ever seen. A proud member of my collection. I didnt mind paying an inflated price for it because i knew that the film was great as i have seen it before in the cinema and also i had the vhs.

The film is not only about a meteorite thats about to crash into earth, its about the courage and friendship of a group of roughnecks. It really is an incredible journey that takes them from the oil rig into space and an incredible battle against a meteorite the size of texas.

The special effects are mind blowing and the extras show you how everything was done.

The soundtrack is mainly by aerosmith so naturally, it rocks. The score is done by oscar winner Hans Zimmer and is beautiful and mesmerising. The album and soundtrack are also worth purchasing.

The sound on the dvd is an incredible 5.1.The opening sequence of the film is said to be the best sound moment on a dvd.

The picture is presented in a virtually flawless anamorphic widescreen. Great to watch and very sharp and consistent throughout.

There are lots of extras including commentaries, trailers, a music video, analysis of special effects, deleted scenes and best of all a gag reel which isnt included in the region 2/4 version

Exactly 2 years after watching the bare DVD of the movie, I had a chance to watch the movie again, this time, the 2-disk edition and on a big screen TV.
The movie is still the same. Visually, it`s quite impressive. The sound is very nice, as well. Sure, most of the plot is ridiculous (and way too American), but who cares?
The video transfer is very good. there aren`t any compression signs and the colors are very nicely saturated, even in the space scenes. The CG is incredibly effective (bye bye, Paris...). The dark scenes (plenty of those) are beautifully rendered.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is very good. The surrounds are used frequently for various sound effects and the dialog is always clear. The disk (which is a 2-disk edition I bought in the Netherlands) also includes dubbed versions in French, Italian, Czech and Hungarian.
The music is also quite nice, despite me hating Aerosmith.
The menus are all beautifully animated.
The extras (which can be found only on the 2nd disk) include 5 deleted scenes, extensive explanations about the special effects, a behind the scenes featurette, some storyboards and a music video. For a 2-disk set, the extras are good, yet not incredible.
Bottom line - a nice movie with a lot of fine moments, some incredible CG effects and a lot of Bruce Willis. All in all, a good demo disk.
