3 / 10

Introduction

When the President retires where better to go to than cosy old Mooseport he can keep away from his money grabbing wife play golf and be the local celebrity.

But the town elders have a crisis -they need a mayor and ask the Ex-Pres to do them a special favour and stand for this unopposed position He accepts but then finds he is up against the popular local plumber and the fight gets dirty.

Meanwhile Handy`s girlfriend is fed-up of being the last thing on commitment-phobic Handy`s mind and when the President asks her out she accepts.

Now it`s not just about politics because Handy`s future happiness is at stake.

Video

A recent transfer this is in good condition with no sign of dirt or grain. There are no obvious problems with the disc.

Audio

Forgettable music, wish I could forget the script-the scriptwriters did.

Features

Not a great deal for which I am extremely grateful.

Car Advert

In the film the ex-President is offered a car advert which he won`t take up but this ad is reproduced here and is more amusing than the film. You can also listen in Norwegian.

There are supposed to be 2 Easter eggs-you find `em I don`t care.

Extended adverts for other films are also included.

Conclusion

Everybody Loves Raymond but not in this film. It has the power of a mild anaesthetic and I kept hoping it would get better but it didn`t. Hackman turns in his usual apparently effortless performance but this is no film for him he should be in something with teeth about drugs and car chases. There are off colour jokes in this film so I can`t even pass it on to the children. This is pap intended to launch the career of somebody who`s is quite well known for his TV show-in America. Most people in this country won`t have the foggiest who he is and after this performance won`t care.

A waste of Christine Baranski, Hackman and Rip Torn.

It is put most succinctly in the outtakes;

(toRay/Handy)

"You dun up against Gene Hackman
And he won two Oscars…"

Don`t give up the day job Ray.
