Synopsis:
Jiri Menzel`s tragicomic Closely Observed Trains is generally regarded as one of the finest examples of the Czech New Wave movement of the mid-1960s. Universally acclaimed by critics, in 1967 the film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The story concerns Milos Hrma, a trainee dispatcher at the local village railway station during the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia. Keen to follow in the footsteps of his work-shy father, grandfather and great grandfather before him, Milos is intent on getting through life with as little effort as possible. Oblivious to the ongoing war and social unrest around him, he is obsessed and sexually frustrated by his ongoing failure to lose his virginity to Masa, a beautiful train conductress...
