Synopsis:
The Two Towers continues to follow the fortunes of the members of the now divided fellowship, with Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Legolas (Orlando Bloom) and Gimli (John-Rhys Davies) helping to restore some order to the land of King Theoden (Bernard Hill), whose mind has been poisoned by the machinations of Grima Wormtongue (Brad Dourif). Wormtongue is a secret emissary of wizard Saruman (Christopher Lee), now ready to unleash his army of the night on Middle-Earth.
Meanwhile, Frodo (Elijah Wood) is falling deeper under the dread influence of The Ring, as he journeys with Sam (Sean Astin) towards Mordor, and fellow Hobbits Merry and Pippin encounter the Ent Treebeard, an ancient tree-shepherd. With the addition of the extraordinary Gollum (Andy Serkis), the return of Gandalf, and a steady build up to the brilliantly staged rain-soaked night time battle of Helm`s Deep, Peter Jackson`s The Two Towers is every bit as exciting and wondrous as The Fellowship of the Ring.

Your Opinions and Comments
Like its prequel, this movie is nothing short of spectacular.
The plot, however, is a lot more "relaxed". Not as many new characters are introduced, and the number of realms is not too high.
The movie is literally entwined with magical moments and the atmosphere varies from fantasy to fairy tale like.
The acting is pretty good, although no single character excels in particular.
The video transfer is excellent. The transfer shows no compression signs and the image is crystal clear. The colors are very nicely saturated and the dark scenes are beautifully rendered. One cannot ignore the amazing battle scenes, both real-life and CG - spectacular.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is excellent as well. There is almost a constant usage of the surrounds and the sub. The sound is very rich and the channel separation is superb.
The menus are all beautifully animated with sound.
The extras on the 2nd disk include an extensive 2-hour behind the scenes look (divided into numerous parts), but alas, again, no commentary. There`s also a short (and silly) movie by Sean Astin and a music video. The extras are good, but, again, not excellent.
Bottom line - an impressive sequel, which is bound to make you want to watch the last movie in the trilogy. Buy it now.

It`s been about 8 months since I first watched the movie. Watching it for the second time was a wonderful experience.
While my original rating for the movie`s content was a strong 8, I can safely admit it now deserves a 9. Not a strong 9, but a 9.
Gollum`s character is hilarious, and the return of a certain character sure adds to the movie`s twists and turns.
One can only wait for the last movie in the series to end this amazing trilogy. Miss it not.
Intro- The 2nd vol of the brilliant LOTR trilogy, this is the middle of the journey for Sam and Frodo to destroy that `ring`. On their quest, they bump into a hideous creature known as Gollum. An exceptional film.

Extras- See review on FOTR. More promotional crap. When will they get the hint and just release it with only the movie itself. No trailers, no tv spots in a word: NOTHING!. Although the extras are on the 2nd disc, I would prefer if EIV would just optimize the bitrate of TTT.
Overall- Excellent 2nd part to the LOTR trilogy, shame about the extras. If you really want excellent extras and like the film, buy the extended edition. Not only you get 4 audio commentaries and DTS sound, you also get 2 discs worth of extras.
