Review of Clifford: Forever Friends

6 / 10

Introduction

Forever Friends contains six episodes of the children’s cartoon Clifford, the Big Red Dog, and his owner Mary Elizabeth. Each episode runs for just under 15mins.

Video

The picture quality is decent, and probably much similar to the TV series, although, not being a 5yr-old child, I have not watched it extensively enough to comment.

Audio

There is not that much to say about the audio - the 2-channel track is clear sounding, the dialogue is easily audible. I really only had one other thought about the sound: Clifford sounds very human…I usually expect all cartoon dogs to sound ‘dog-esque’ (for want of a better word), like Scooby Doo. Obviously Rude Dog and his Dweebs were an exception.

Features

Suitably for a Big Red Dog, this DVD has Big Fun Features available from an appropriately cute menu. “Clifford’s Big Ideas” is made up of three animated ‘lessons for the day’ with themes such as ‘Believing in Yourself’ and ‘Work Together’. “Cleo’s Groovy Grooming Shop” is a little game that allows you to dress up Clifford and his chum T-Bone up in outfits by selecting what they will wear from the menu. There is also a trailer included for the video/DVD series to complete a set of features that little bit smaller than I would expect fro a Big Red Dog.

Conclusion

If you can pick this up at a low price, certainly not more than £10, then this DVD contains just enough materialto make it a worthwhile purchase to keep kids quiet with some harmless fun for a couple of hours or so.
