Synopsis:
In the dying days of World War II, only one bridge is left across the Rhine, a direct link to the heart of the Third Reich. Nazi orders are to sacrifice retreating German troops and blow up the bridge before the advancing Americans march into the Rhineland. But the Allies intend to secure the bridge themselves.
George Segal as U.S. Lieutenant Hartman and Robert Vaughn as German Major Kreuger give remarkable performances as soldiers on opposite sides of the bridge. This dramatic conflict makes for spectacular battle scenes, as the bridge of death comes under heavy fire, with magnificent stuntwork from Hal Needham (who later directed Smokey and the Bandit and Cannonball Run). The Bridge At Remagen is a war movie to savour.
