The man with no name rides into town...

Retail Price: £19.99
Release Date:

Synopsis:
Clint Eastwood`s stunning Spaghetti Western debut. When the Man With No Name rides into town, the rival gangs of the Baxters and the Rojos soon find themselves fighting each other.

As the lean, cold-eyed cobra-quick gunfighter, Clint became the first of the Western`s anti-herores. The cynical enigmatic loner with a clouded past is the same character Eastwood fans have been savouring ever since.

`A Fistful Of Dollars` is the western taken to the extreme - with unremitting violence, gritty realism and tongue-in-cheek humour. Leone`s direction is taut and stylish, and the visuals are striking -from the breathtaking panoramas (in Spain) to the extreme close-ups of quivering lips and darting eyes before the shoot-out begins. And all are accentuated by renowned composer Ennio Morricone`s quirky, haunting score.

Great visuals. But what`s up with the sound? In most of the film, the speech is out of synchronisation with the actor`s mouths. It can be very distracting. You think that you are watching a foreign dub.

Firstly before i mention anything about the DVD, I would like to say that this is a masterpiece. Brilliant. This movie kicked of Clint Eastwood into fame. He is where he is now because of this film. Everyone knows the name Clint Eastwood.
The settings are breathtaking and realistic. The cinematography is ace. Direction brilliant. Acting first class. Plot excellent.

A stranger(Clint) walks into the Town of San Miguel. He hears about how the town is run by two feuding families (no this is not romeo and juliet) The Baxter`s on oneside The Rojo`s on the other with Clint "in the middle"
The dialogue is classic and superb:
"you see my mule don`t like you laughing. He gets the strange idea that you`re laughing at him. Now if you apologise like I know you`re going to...."
Clint has an idea of mingling in with both families to earn lots of money. He performs lots of schemes and double crossings to get his way without anyone suspecting. But one of his schemes goes horribly wrong...........

This film is just so interesting to watch time after time. I have seen my dvd 3 times since purchasing some months ago. And have seen it on TV and VHS so many times i`ve lost count

The picture is fabulous for a movie as old. There are minor faults in the picture that go by unoticable unless u are looking for them. In one scene there are a few horrible lines but thats it. The sound is superb. I didnt even notice it was mono. This must be the best mono ever. No features except a trailer
