This is one of the most original films I have ever seen.

Eminem`s Acting is brillant far better than All Saints in Honest.

He Took Jimmy Rabbit to the next level.

The Rap Battles are the mian highlight of the film.

Brillant directing from Hanson.

I have seen a lot of films come out this year but this one is the best so far.

The extras are brillant including a documentary on Rap Battles and then normal people taking on Eminem in a Freestyle Battle.

The Superman was really good.

I Wish they had an Eminem Commentary for his take on the film in more detail.

Anyway I think this is film is one of the best I have seen since Monsters Inc from Last Year.

Eminem shines in this realistic modern drama about a young rapper trying to get out of the rough in rundown Detroit. Jimmy Smith Jnr, aka Rabbit lives with his nymphomaniac mother and little sister in a trailer park. He has dreams of making it big but things just keep on getting in his way. This movie is about Carpe Diem, taking chances. Solid acting from Eminem, Kim Basinger, Brittany Murphy and Mekhi Phiffer.

The picture is almost pin sharp and has great detail, especially during the many night scenes. The cinematography is really great and you can almost feel yourself being there, in Detroit, the sets are very realistic.
The sound is very great, very loud and always clear. The dialogue is alway audible. There is also an optional DTS track that I would have liked to have sampled.

There are plenty of extras that cover many aspects of the movie. There is a making of featurette that is interesting. There is a music of 8mile option that links back to good music moments in the movie. There is the uncut Eminem superman music video that was ok but really, it wasnt to my taste.

A Solid coming of age movie about living in the rough neighbourhoods in america and success. A different type of movie that provides a refreshing change from other movies. Curtis Hanson has proved to be great yet again with his superb direction. See This

Intro- It`s not tripe which some people consider 8 Mile to be(based on customer reviews from amazon.com or registered members from imdb.com); but on the other hand it`s not destined to be in the top 100 greatest movies of all time. 8 Mile is basically about Eminem himself but having a different name. His character, Jimmy `Rabbit` Smith jr struggles through life on a daily basis and tries to win some rap battle competition.

Video- Being a recent film, I was expecting top notch video quality so here it is. Present in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, this is one of the best video qualities in my entire collection. Colours are vibrant, sharp and well defined. The only few faults is that the video can be slightly dark at times but I think it gives character.

Sound- Very bassy, especially in the scenes where Rabbit is competing with other rappers. In DD 5.1, there`s no loss in sound quality and it keeps on beating. There`s also an option to listen to DTS throughout for more oomph in your speakers. Very pleasing.

Extras- This is where video and audio versus special features seperate drastically. There is a short making of featurette featuring interviews with the cast/crew. Next, there is a rap battles thing. The package is finished with a music vid by Eminem and music of 8 Mile which gives you bits where that music is played.

Overall- As I said in the intro, 8 Mile is not tripe but it`s neither destined to be a classic. The DVD is really for the fans of Eminem, otherwise you would avoid buying this.
