Review of Care Bears: The Movie (Animated)

3 / 10

Introduction

The world is in trouble because nobody cares any more. Luckily the Care Bears from Care-a lot are here to save the day. Two children are found by the Care Bears and accidentally brought back to Care-a lot. Meanwhile an evil spirit in a magic book is using a boy`s loneliness to make him do some very bad things.

From 1985 when the greedy `80s was in full flow come the Care Bears. The cuddly product now to be seen on the shelves again generated this movie two sequels and a TV Series.

Featuring the voice talent of Mickey Rooney and original songs by Carole King.

Video

Very flat and dated animation compared to the sophisticated product now available. The quality of the print used for transfer is poor. Another budget disc produced as cheaply as possible.

Audio

Some of the songs are bearable(sorry). The dialogue is acceptable bu the insistent voice over by Mickey Rooney constantly referring to caring is rather wearing.

Features

The original trailer.

Conclusion

There are some major fan websites dedicated to these guys and whilst admiring the sentiment that caring and sharing love is good, this saccharine soaked product is just too over the top. It is all right in small doses but a whole film is just too much. It may appeal to very small children but I don`t think the accompanying adult deserves such torture. For caring and sharing `Toy Story` does it so much better by appealing to all ages.

Disc wise -even if you like the bears this disc is poorly produced and overpriced.
