Synopsis:
An edge-of-your-seat action adventure story, `Vertical Limit` is the high-adrenaline tale of young climber Peter Garrett (Chris O`Donnell - Batman & Robin), who must launch a treacherous and extraordinary rescue effort up K2, the world`s second highest peak.

Action-packed would be rather an understatement for the intensity of the movie.
The video transfer is superb. There are no compression signs and the picture is beautifully saturated.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is excellent. The surrounds are constantly used and the soundtrack itself is both aggressive and effective.
The menus are all animated with sound.
The extras include a commentary by the director and producer, an extensive behind the scenes featurette (with a lot of insights as to how the amazing effects were created - CG or otherwise) and a National Geographic documentary.
Bottom line - the 2nd best thing to actually climbing K2. Go for it!
There were a lot of bad reviews about this movie as well as a few decent ones. Basically a Chris O Donnell goes up K2 with a crew to rescue his sister who is trapped. His father died years ago so she is the only real family he has. Whilst I dont share Zvi`s enthusiasm for the film, it is a fairly good movie. Its true that the action sequences are well done but there is simply not enough of it. They are however beautiful as is the whole scenery of the movie. The movie also dwelves into the characters of Chris`s companions which I thought gave the movie another dimension. A decent movie which lacks feeling. You just couldnt feel the bond of a brother and sister. Had their been a better bond and feeling, the movie would have been great.
Picture is stunning. Crisp and clear and full of detail of the wonderful scenery. The sound also a very loud and edgy DD 5.1 which at times helps create the mood of suspense and rushing adrenaline.
Extras. This disc was jam-packed full of superb mini documentaries about the making of the movie and of mountain climbing and survival in general. Top that off with an audio commentary and some trailers, you have an excellent disc. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT GETTING THE SUPERBIT VERSION. There cannot be that much of an improvement in picture and sound quality as they are already great and the extras are too good to miss out on.
Overall this is a decent movie, that could have been better, on a superb disc. If you like it, this r2/r4 disc is the one to get.
