Synopsis:
Absurdly comic, highly kinetic, at times shockingly emotional, Three Kings begins when the Gulf War is over.

Amid the partying and confusion, four American soldiers (George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, Ice Cube and Spike Jonze), determined to take home more than sand fleas, go off into the Iraqi desert to find millions in stolen Kuwaiti bullion. They are plunged into the heart of a democratic uprising that spins the day and their lives out of control. David O. Russell`s unique tapestry of humor, violence and history makes Three Kings "one of the best movies of the year." (Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times)

Not only is this my favourite movie of the year so far (and quite possibly will stay that way until the end), it`s one of the best discs I`ve ever bought feature wise.

You just really need to read a synopsis of the plot to find out what the film is actually ABOUT, but it`s impossible to describe how original and moving it is without seeing it. One of the most original and impressive scripts and direction I`ve ever seen, top notch acting for the entire cast (notably Mark Wahlberg and Spike Jonze) and after owning the DVD since it came out 3 weeks ago I`ve only just been able to work my way through the extras. 2, yes 2 audio commentries, deleted scenes with and without commentry, of course the hilarious director`s video journal and `An Intimate Look Into The Acting Process With Ice Cube` and 3 more brilliant and insightful behind the scenes documentaries, plus MORE which I can`t be bothered to list. I just wish I had a DVD-Rom drive so I could check out the extras on that along with the secret passwords you find in the `hidden bunkers`.

What an incredibly stupid movie. I wasn`t surprised, however. I had very low expectations from this movie, mainly because of its 3 leads (and let`s face it - neither of them is REALLY an actor). The main issue remain, though, that the movie is DEAD boring.
The video transfer is problematic. Even if the extreme white and yellow hues saturation was intentional (it might have been, in order to give the viewer a feel of the desert), it is extremely annoying. Other than that the picture is a bit blurred and not very sharp. There are no compression signs, however.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is good. The various explosions and fight scenes all use the surrounds nicely.
The menus are animated with sound.
The extras include 2 commentaries, a lot of behind the scenes featurettes, some deleted scenes, a stills gallery and some production notes.
Bottom line - a boring action movie with horrible acting and an annoying color palette. Avoid if you can.
