There`s been a lot of bad press about this film. However, I found it to be entertaining and quite thrilling.
The story is a bit lame, yes, but is well acted, directed and edited. Michael Douglas and Sean Bean play their stock characters effectively and there a few suprises along the way.
Well worth renting out.

A good movie that did have a lot of potential. There are some good acting performances all round from a solid cast. Michael Douglas is a psychologist who`s daughter is kidnapped by a gang of criminals who want one thing, a number from the head of a teenage girl, who is under Douglas` treatment. The atmosphere of the movie is tense thoughout and this leads to a good electifying finale. There are some minor twists but this is a movie that deserves many better twists.
The picture is generally sharp and clear but overall that is what you would expect from a new release and there is nothing particularly remarkable apart from the fact that it is of normal dvd standard. The sound likewise is a DD 5.1 that is well used during some of the few action scenes. Other than that a pretty standard soundtrack. There are quite a few extras including some interesting deleted scenes and some documentaries. A decent set of extras.
Overall this is just a solid movie, with nothing truly remarkable that would make me wanna recommend it for purchasing. It is however the ideal rental movie. If you do end up liking it, the dvd is well done and is worth it if you love the movie.
