Synopsis:
In the 1970s the American horror genre achieved notoriety with Wes Craven`s The Last House On The Left (1972), Tobe Hooper`s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) and Abel Ferrara`s Driller Killer (1979). Driller Killer tells the story of an aspiring artist (played by Ferrara under his stage name Jimi Laine) who is driven mad by his struggles and the pressures of an urban life. Armed with a hand-drill and a taste for murder, he takes to the streets in a bloody rampage. This is a film that takes the viewer on a shocking, realistic journey into madness and murder. Driller Killer was Ferrara`s debut and combines the vengeful horror of his second movie Ms. 45 - Angel Of Vengenace (1981), with the edgy and violent characters he so brilliantly portrayed in Bad Lieutenant (1992), The Funeral (1996) and King Of New York (1990).

Your Opinions and Comments

Intro- It will shatter you? Yes it will shatter you! In a different way. Driller Killer will shatter your morale because of how bad a movie this piece of crap is. Despite the controversy sparked off because of the cover and then there is the video nasties thing in the 80`s, the violence is rather dated and very comical. Nobody won`t take this film very seriously, not even a 5 year old who will start laughing his arse off. Bad plot and very wooden acting. Released uncut, I wonder how well this film would be in todays world.

Video- Uh? Am I looking at a direct VHS to DVD transfer here? Grains over there and another over there. In addition to constant instances of grains, artifacts and flecks, extreme washed colours ain`t helping either, such (lack of) care will make you go insane such as turning off the DVD player, eject the DVD and throwing it like mad! Despite what DVD.reviewer.co.uk claims the aspect ratio of this travesty to be 1.33:1, it`s not in fact, it`s letterboxed! It drives anamorphic lovers insane.

Sound- This film is presented in 2.0 steroo. HISS POP HISS POP!!! Very dull soundtrack, extremely hard to hear. Nothing redeeming about it. Also features poor sound effects and a very cheesy score.

Extras- First off you get some trailers and a filmography of this director. Lastly, a bad commentary from the director himself. I don`t know what he`s thinking when he made the movie. First, he says some anecdotes not worth listening, and then all of a sudden he`s uttering nonsense and talks like a mixture between a drunken having to much beer and a 5 year old child who`s been shoved into the acting spotlight and forced to talk in front of an audience of 100 million. This commentary might be amusing but I promise you, it will leave you ripping your hair as much as the movie will give you such a nightmare. As I said in the video review, stop the player and throw it, treat it like a frisbee.

Overall- It`s a no no for me. This video nasty should`ve been banned forever not for the so-called graphic violence etc etc but because it`s plain awful. This ranks along the worst movies list such as Gigli, The Fast and the Furious and xXx. I felt like I`ve wasted 90 mins of my life just watching this pile of crap. If you like horror movies, just stay clear out of this weird thing. It will degrade your intelligence by 75%. I WANT A MINUS RATING!
