Review of Trigger Happy TV 3

7 / 10

Introduction

Dom Joly and his production team feature in another collection of outrageous gags and stunts on the general public all with the help of a single lens to record the action. Various animal suites were used during the making of this production but no real animals were harmed, Dom puts these suites yet again to good use at a business meeting, on a building scaffold and in the forest on some passers by. A laugh a minute all the way through I assure you.

Video

Presented in a 4:3 format, the picture quality is clear enough although some scenes are shot in the night, some slightly jerky in motion and some are shot from a camera lens angle and an example of this would be in the meat shop Dom goes into, but its what is to be expected from a fly on the wall DVD filmed in this way. Colour seems clear enough with no run between shades, it`s the actual visual gags you are watching that takes the prize and there could be a bit of humour here for most people. Some scenes that I found myself laughing at no matter how short were; Santa`s grotto, the cats caper, shop windows and the Chinese rickshaw ride.

Audio

The audio is in a basic Dolby Digital Stereo 2.0 which is all that`s needed really and is enough for the narration, vocals and music. The dialogue is clear when heard but the DVD is mainly a visual experience and not much speech is on during the action! The music fills in between parts and features tracks by Elton John for example.

Features

The opening menu has a main green background with an animated section on the right containing footage taken from the disk. Options are play, scene selection, being Dom Joly, extras, audio commentary and subtitles all of which are displayed over an animated title in shadow scrolling behind. A short musical riff loops over the menu. One of the features called `being Dom Joly` is a humerous documentary hosted by Robert Schriffin, taking you through Doms life and features his new house, friends and family and his school. The extras include 14 unseen clips, 3 bad rabbit jokes, 3 worst ideas, brushes with the law and 4 unseen celebrity interviews. The audio commentary is fun and informative, Dom speaks about breaking his ankle during the car parking gag.

Conclusion

Although short on running time Trigger Happy was a damn good laugh and what makes it so funny is the confidence of Dom Joly during his setups and pranks on the public. Not a bad little collection of extras included either, at least more than just a trailer that some DVD movies have on them and they`re done on a bigger budget.
