Synopsis:
The Dude, Jeff Lebowski (Jeff Bridges) is unemployed and laid-back until victim of mistaken identity, two thugs break into his apartment in the errant belief that they are accosting Jeff Lebowski the Pasadena millionaire.

In hope of getting a replacement for his soiled carped Dude visits his wealthy namesake and, with buddy, ex `Nam` veteran, Walter (John Goodman), he is swept into a Coenesque comedy/thriller of extortion, embezzlement, sex and dope.

It takes guys as simple as the Dude and Walter to make a story this complicated... and they`d really rather be bowling.

This film is so funny. It`s a very well made American Art movie. The Cohen brothers ( directors ) are top. Be prepared for the "F" word every sentence, though. Jeff Bridges is very good in his role as the "dude", and the other characters are directed with genius all the way. Pity there are no real extras.

Fantastic film, one of the most original and most enjoyable scripts I`ve heard for a LONG time, and even better, if you live in the UK get it at HMV NOW... it`s only £9.99!

The disc lacks any features, but that is made up for by the great transfer and choice of 4:3 and 16:9.

A great film - a person favorite comedy of mine. And also one that introduced me to white russains! What quality drinks...
Anway, the dvd is as poor as it could have been. Anamorpphic widescreen is all well and good, but the picture is poor - compression is very evident often and their is little clarity. Colours also look very unrealistic. The sound is fine however. Features on the disc... well, there are INTERACTIVE MENUS, and DIRECT SCENE ACCESS. Groundbreaking stuff. Next they`ll be boasting it has SYNCHRONISED AUDIO & VIDEO as an extra. Definitely in need of a re-release.
