Synopsis:
Actor-writer-producer-director Nanni Moretti`s The Son`s Room is an emotional, poignant and absolutely heart-rending study of a family touched by the loss of a loved one. Psychiatrist Giovanni (Moretti), his wife Paola (Laura Morante) and their two teenage children, son Andrea (Giuseppe Sanfelice) and daughter Irene (Jasmine Trinca), are living the good life in a small, idyllic Italian town. One afternoon Giovanni breaks his promise to go jogging with his son after receiving an urgent call from a patient.

Instead, Andrea goes on a diving expedition with his friends during which he tragically dies, plunging his family into deep shock. Giovanni is particularly tormented, believing that the tragedy could have been averted had he gone running with Andrea instead of choosing to see his patient. Distraught, he loses his ability to heal the mental suffering of his patients and throws himself into bursts of activity. Meanwhile, Paola takes some comfort in what she learns of her son`s life from a letter written by his girlfriend that arrives for him after his death...
