Synopsis:
There`s a new kid in town.

Funnyman Adam Sandler stars in Mr. Deeds, the hilarious re-make of the classic American comedy Mr. Deeds Goes To Town.

Small town guy Longfellow Deeds (Sandler) goes to the big city to collect a $40 billion inheritance from a long lost uncle. Living in a palatial mansion with the services of an unusual personal butler (John Turturro) isn`t too bad. Things get even better when he meets a beautiful school nurse (Winona Ryder). But money changes everything, and things aren`t what they seem- his sweetie is actually a journalist feeding reports of his outrageous behavior to the press! Now, it`s up to Deeds to straighten everyone out - with a few right hooks and lots of common sense.

The remake of the famous 1936 classic is an ordinary movie with only a couple of funny moments.
Sandler is (surprisingly) not annoying at all. Well, there`s a first time for everything, I guess. :)
The video transfer is good. There are no visible compression signs and the picture is generally clean of defects.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is good, as well. The surrounds are nicely used, especially during the numerous echo scenes.
The menus are nicely animated with sound.
The extras include a commentary, 3 behind the scenes featurettes, 6 deleted scenes (which are pretty bad, actually), some outtakes, a music video, 6 greeting cards Deeds` style and some DVD-ROM features (script, animation etc.).
Bottom line - a harmless little movie that can be enjoyed even by Sandler`s anti-fans.

I really enjoyed watching this dvd. The picture was presented in great dvd quality and the sound too although they both were nothing special cos these days, good pics are standard.

What really surprised me was the movie itself. I wasnt expecting much from it, just the usual adam sandler with his sick jokes and sense of humour. Like I said, I was surprised cos it was actually really good. Adam plays Mr Deeds, a simple man from a small town with a big heart and good values. He treats everyone around him with great respect and everyone in his town returns that respect onto him.

Anyway the rest of the story goes like this. He inherits $40 billion from a relative he didnt even know and goes to new york where all the reporters are trying to find out about him. Enter winona ryder who looks gorgeous. Shes a reporter who wants the top scoop on him and tricks him at first but then falls in love yada yada yada.

The story is not plot twisting or brain busting or anything. In fact its a very simple story but the way in which the story is told is really interesting. The movie is not very funny, there are only a few funny scenes, but charming and touching it is. The characters are developed quite well in a fun way. Anyway I agree, whether you`re an adam sandler fan or not, you cannot hate this movie.
