Synopsis:
History books state that Geronimo was the last American Indian to surrender formally to the United States. But, in truth, there was one warrior who refused to go along with Geronimo. His name was Massai. He went on to fight a one-man war against the US Army. This is his story. As the lone Apache, Burt Lancaster cuts a fine figure...handsome, rugged and agile. Told against the great, sweeping landscapes of the south-west, Massai`s ordeal of survival is depicted with dignity, romance and majesty. Jean Peter, best known for glamourous roles (and quitting movies to marry Howard Hughes), gives an honest and gritty portrayal as the Indian girl who follows Massai at all costs.
