Synopsis:
Set in Monstropolis, a thriving company town where monsters of all shapes and sizes reside, Disney/Pixar`s latest hit follows the hilarious misadventures of James P. Sullivan (known to all as "Sulley") and his best friend, roommate, and co-worker, Mike Wazowski.
Both work at Monsters, Inc., the largest scream processing factory in the monster world, where Sulley is the top kid scarer and Mike is his enthusiastic Scare Assistant. The main power source in the monster world is the collected screams of human children. At Monsters, Inc. an elite team of Scarers is responsible for gathering these precious natural human resources.
Complicating matters is the fact that monsters believe human children to be toxic and direct contact with them is forbidden. When a little girl (named Boo) accidently follows Sulley back into his world, he finds his career in jeopardy and his life in utter chaos. Assisted by Mike, he schemes to rectify his mistake but the trio become caught up in a series of complications and unexpected intrigue beyond their wildest dreams!

Your Opinions and Comments
The movie itself tells a pretty decent story (which can be understood, as always, in several levels) and has quite a few funny moments.
The video transfer is excellent. Taken directly from the digital files of Pixar, the transfer is flawless. No compression signs can be spotted and the colors` saturation is superb. The CG level of detail is almost unparalleled, and thankfully, there`s no sign of the plastic (aka - ugly) rendering style of Toy Story 1 and 2. Mind you, the opening titles, while being semi-whimsical, are so very "Monty Python" (aka - lame!!!).
The DTS and DD 5.1 soundtracks are very good. The surrounds are used very nicely, but never in an overwhelming manner.
The characters` voices are truly outstanding, with Billy Crystal being THE star of the movie.
However, the theme song, which won the Oscar is very average (and that`s putting it mildly).
The disc also contains a separate soundtrack containing only the sound effects. Cute.
The menus are beautifully animated with sound.
The extras on the first disc include a commentary by the crew and 5 minutes of so-called outtakes (some funny, other - less).
The second disc contains a wealth of extras - 2 short animated movies (with Mike`s New Car being the funniest piece of CG I`ve ever seen), an extensive behind the scenes look, several storyboards, explanations about the CG, 4 deleted (or abandoned) scenes, multiple angles scenes, picture galleries, a multi-lingual clip (very nice), an interactive game and a music video.
Bottom line - another very good (and funny) movie from Disney, and thankfully, its DVD presentation is superb. Get it now.
