This is a truly stunning series that every astronomy fan simply has to own.
OK, so the explanations are sometimes simplified, but the overall quality of the production is superb and the almost 3 hour series is highly enjoyable.
The video transfer is excellent. There are no compression signs to be seen and the picture oozes detail. The colors are beautifully rendered and give space a sexy, colorful feel. The CG is outstanding and the models used are very accurate.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is great. The surrounds are used frequently and give a very nice sound envelope. It`s really cool to watch a documentary with great surround sound.
The menus are beautifully animated with sound.
the extras include a behind the scenes featurette with explanations about the CG, a photo gallery and some production notes that include facts about space.
Bottom line - a truly beautiful and interesting series. Highly recommended.
