First of all, let me emphasize that the reviewed version`s details are a bit different from the details of this title.
A classic movie from Walt Disney. This is the first time I`ve ever seen it in its entirety. It is, however, a tad too childish for me.
The video transfer is ok. This is the 4:3 version of the movie and it does show its age (just over 46 years old in 2001). The animation is simple and hand-drawn and the colors are a bit pale, but there are no compression signs.
The DD 5.0 soundtrack is very flat. I think it`s just an extrapolation of the original mono track. I think the surrounds are never used at all. This version of the movie also includes 7 dubbed soundtracks in French, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Czech, Hebrew and Greek, all of which are not that good and the dialog is not always clear.
The menus are all static.
The disk has no extras at all.
Bottom line - a rather outdated classic. Kids who like pets may appreciate it, but that`s about it. I guess life were very simple 46 years ago. This simplicity, however, might bore 21st century viewers.
