The French have always been good at Hard Boiled thrillers, this is no exception. The films of Jean-Pierre Melville are better than most American films. I can`t wait to see Le Smaurai on DVD. Melville films the frame with Style and grace...

This criterion Disc is not perfect and does have some aliasing problems, particularly with plaid suits etc. But nothing really bad to distract you from the pleasure of the film...
