Synopsis:
An illiterate person called Pandiyan (Parthiban) falls in love with classical dancer Swarnamukhi (Devayani). Swarnamukhi is the daughter of a woman who has been a mistress to the local politician all of her life. With her mothers blessings she begins to fall in love with Pandiyan too. But his rich father objects to the marriage and Pandiyan disappears from her life, without even saying goodbye.

Swarnamukhi then moves to another city where her dance brings her both fame and fortune. She begins to reciprocate to the feelings of her close friend Akash (Prakash Raj) and before both could declare their love for each other Pandiyan enters her life once more only to stake his claim on Swarnamukhi.
