Cat`s Eye (UK)

Stephen King adaptations are notorious for their mixed quality. Some are good, some are bad and some are a mix of both. I think this film is a mix of both. Cat`s Eye is an horror anthology featuring three segments which all have a mysterious cat linking them. The first two segments are taken from King`s short story collection Night Shift. The third was written by King for this particular film.

The first segment is about a man who wants to give up smoking and joins Quitters Inc who have some very radical methods of helping people to stop. The second is about a man who agrees to walk around the ledge of a penthouse in order to save himself from being framed. The final segment features the cat arriving at the home of a little girl who is being threatened by a evil troll.

The first segment is easily the best although I found the second to be very entertaining. The last segment isn`t too bad but it`s not as good as the first two.

Momentum continue delivering the goods in the video department. Yet another high quality transfer with few defects.
The sound quality is only stereo but sounds pretty good.

There is a german trailer for the film and an audio commentary from director Lewis Teague. For some reason, there`s only about 15 minutes or so of Lewis actually commenting on the film. The rest of the time is just silent. He does provide some interesting information particulary about the effects and the treatment of the animals on set.

Overall, this is a fairly good film. The picture and sound is excellent. It`s just the extras that disappoint. There was supposed to be deleted scenes but they aren`t here. King fans will want this disc. As for everyone else, if you see it cheap, I would recommend getting it.
