Your Opinions and Comments
The acting is quite good (Connelly in particular) and the movie, despite being a bit too long, never gets boring.
The video transfer is very good. There are no compression signs to be seen and the colors are slightly (and deliberately) desaturated. This gives the movie a certain amount of authenticity.
Most of the special effects are subtle, and you`d probably never notice they are actually CG. They are as seamless as John Nash`s hallucinations.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is very good. The surrounds are used occasionally, but mainly for ambiance. The dialogs are clear and well centered and you will be humming the musical score well after the movie`s end.
The menus are animated with sound.
The extras include: Disk 1 - 2 commentaries by the director and screenwriter, 17 deleted scenes, some production notes and some neat DVD-ROM stuff (pictures, clips etc.). Disk 2 - an extensive behind the scenes look (miserably divided into too many sections without the possibility to play everything continuously), a clip from the Nobel prize ceremony, where Nash got his prize, 5 nice storyboards and a brilliant explanation about the special effects in the movie.
Bottom line - a good and touching movie which is very nicely presented on the 2-disk set.
I`m not a big fan of Russell Crowe and used to think he was way overrated as an actor but after seeing this movie, I think he should have been awarded best actor oscar rather than Denzil Washington.
Print is clean and no flaws visible Sound also is very good and the score is beautiful and remarkable.
2 disc set is packed full of lots of extras including commentaries, deleted scenes, bios, loads of other stuff that complement the movie well.
A great movie superbly acted and directed. Saying this, it does not have that great a rewatchability rating but I do recommend that everyone see this movie at least once as it is great.
