Review of Mummy, The
Video
The Mummy is based on 1932 classic, I found this release tremendously entertaining, Brendan Fraser was excellent and convincing in his impression of Indiana Jones. The story is based on the unearthing of a 3,000-year-old terror and the consequences, which this brings. The transfer in 2.35:1 is exceedingly sharp and the colour is vibrant and bring out all the texture of the desert perfectly.
Audio
Audio is in the now benchmark Dolby Digital 5.1 and bring the sounds of the desert perfectly into your living room.
Features
This has some of the best additions to any region 2 dvd that I have seen as is bound to add to the success of the product. Additions include `how to build a better mummy`, a directors commentary and deleted scenes. There also a number of other additions, which make the features of this film a big selling point.
Conclusion
This is an excellent film, I enjoyed it when I saw it in the cinema and I am glad to say non of this enjoyment has been lost in the transfer to dvd. The film combines horror with comedy and leaves the viewer on the edge of his seat not knowing whether to laugh or cry. The quality of additional features on this film are also a big bonus combined they create a excellent package which is a worth while investment which will give years of enjoyment.
